BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL!!!! (CLOSED SAT. - SUN. BLOCK PARTY!!!)
Yep, that's right - it's time once again for the yearly incarnation of the Los Angeles installation of the Bicycle Film Festival! Check out the schedule - this year's programs are amazing! WE WILL BE CLOSED SATURDAY FOR THE FESTIVAL! This year's program definitely features the riding in Los Angeles with some films highlighting LA's cycling culture and riders, i.e.: Lucas Brunelle's Worldwide Adventures (w/ footage from last year's events), The Bike Lane, LA Bike Scene, Taco Tuesday, and Wolfpack Hustle: a Midnight Dragrace.
Of course, the Bicycle Film Festival has a movie for every type of cyclist - for flatlanders, there's the Tico Jam - for roadies, there's the Coppi documentary, Standing Still, and the Road to Roubaix movie - for track riders, there's Keirin, Bang-King, Fixie Dave, Macaframa, the Making of Bootleg Sessions 2, and the Six-Day Bicycle Races - for messengers and traffic junkies, the Lucas Brunelle movie and Skitch King are sure to get your blood flowing - and there's a lot more...
Click HERE to see the schedule and read the rest of the post to find out about the block party...

July 4th Weekend ( We Will Be Closed July 4th and 5th! )
Well, it's been a while since our last post, and people have been busy riding and organizing...
This week will see quite a few races and events going on in the LA area and throughout California. First off, the premier race in a 5 race series - the DTLA Grand Prix Criterium - is happening Thursday, July 3rd. Race entry is 5 bucks, and the winner of the series takes all. There is one race every Thursday night in July, and the meeting point is under the bridge at 4th and Flower Sts. Registration begins at 8p.m., and the races start at 9.
Next event, the Olde Skool Omnium and Madison at the Encino Velodrome on Saturday, July 5th. Racing starts at 5p.m., and we'll be showing up to give away some prizes and throw down... Best bring your racing duds.

Also this weekend, you may want to check out Quake City Rumble 5 if you find yourself in San Francisco. I raced one of these a few years ago, and it was a blast! Make sure you bring your beer goggles for this one.
We will be closed Friday and Saturday to celebrate the 4th of July. And, as always, please call before coming by... 323.662.4537. Thanks.

Going to be an interesting week 5:30-10:00 Thursday and Friday Closing Early Sat and Sunday
Jim is leaving town for the CMWC in Toronto and will be gone for a whole week. Jack has to go out of town Thursday and Friday. And Kyle told me that he will not know until 1:00PM everyday for a week rather or not he will have to leave work because of jury duty. In the mean time I need to work on this web site, do a physical inventory, pay our taxes, settle some debts and test the new web store. So instead of doing a terrible job of running the store single-handed we will have to open late (5:30-10:00) Thursday and Friday with a mostly temp staff. We will be closing early Sat and Sunday (from 2:00-6:00). Stay tuned for updates concerning next Monday and Tuesday. I am sorry for this closure but please direct all complaints about the sporadic hours to the members of the staff that take vacations not me. If you were around during X-mas and new years you know the routine.

As for the rest of the weekend, well, here's an idea for Sunday...probably the best damn idea there is, too. Get your lazy ass out to Van Nuys for the 6th Annual Choppercabras Spring Thing sponsored by Atomic Cycles. Here's the info:

OH SNAP - RAD, the movie, guerrilla style (CLOSING @ 8:30 on SUNDAY, not Saturday!)

That's right, the '80's classic BMX-flick that is also the key to picking up chicks at school dances and learning backflips is being shown downtown SUNDAY night! Don't sleep on this one. This was my inspiration to start riding BMX bikes when I was 13! So come on down and get yourself some cool - SUNDAY night, 9p.m., in downtown LA. (This is an official retraction - earlier I had posted this as happening on Saturday...the flyer says the 18th, that's SUNDAY!)
